Wizard of Legend's latest update triples my music in the game...kinda

E_gN7rsVkAIaSz_.png

The very latest update to the hit roguelike Wizard of Legend takes my soundtrack and expands on it greatly. You’ll meet Melody the Jukebox now, and speaking to her will let you change the music to the game. Aside from my original score you can also now pick music from the Wizard of Legend Piano Collections album as well as the Prescription for Sleep album. And, you can speak to Melody to just listen if you’d like.

Of course, these albums are still available for sale:

Prescription for Sleep: Wizard of Legend

Wizard of Legend Piano Collections

Wizard of Legend The Complete Soundtrack

Thank you for checking it out if you do! And thanks for your support!

My most relaxing soundtrack yet, Alchemic Cutie, is out now

E67EgFiUcAAOC4z.jpeg

Out ahead of the game’s launch on Xbox Series X|S & Xbox One on September 28, my soundtrack for Alchemic Cutie is out right now. Unlike, well, many of my recent soundtrack releases, which focus on high action, combat, and adrenaline, Alchemic Cutie’s primary goal is to be relaxing. So it’s 22 pieces of the most laid back, sweet, calming music I could muster. Well, aside from a few funny songs.

The soundtrack is out now on all platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp, and many others.

I hope you enjoy it!

New project announcement: Undergrounded

A new game I'm working on debuted at BitSummit in Kyoto this month. It's called Undergrounded, from Game Studio Inc, also in Kyoto. It has a fantastic premise and art, and I'm writing pop and rock (among other things!) for it. It's been a blast so far.

It's about a guy who has had the worst day of his life after being turned down from a marriage proposal. This is how bad his day gets: after that his ring falls down into a street drain. But down there is underground labyrinth where lost things such as objects, feelings, and memories are uncovered.

I hope to have more news to share later but for now enjoy this amazing artwork from the game.

Dreamscaper is out NOW! Nintendo Switch and Steam

Finally! It’s like waking up from a dream. After three years (and about 55 pieces of music) Dreamscaper is truly complete and out now on Nintendo Switch and Steam. It’s a game where you work through your pain and struggles in your lucid dreams and your subconscious, with a unique rouge-lite type combat and relationship building gameplay blend. There’s really nothing like it and I’m so glad I got to set it to music.

The Nintendo Switch and Steam versions are out now. And on Steam you can get a nicely discounted bundle that includes my soundtrack — the biggest soundtrack I’ve ever done. Oh! And that soundtrack is available everywhere — and a super deluxe double vinyl is coming soon!

The reviews so far? Good. Very good. So good that I’ve been a constant state of shakiness and elation for the past day or so. Pins and needles. Really, like a dream.

And as for the game, you can wishlist it for Nintendo Switch or Steam right now!

RWBY: Arrowfell announced! I'm the composer!

rwby.png

I’m very pleased to finally announce that I’m the composer for RWBY: Arrowfell, announced just today at RTX 2021. Coming to you from WayForward, Arc System Works, and Rooster Teeth, I’ve been at work on this soundtrack for the better part of the year and it’s been an absolute blast as a fan of the show. A honor, really.

The game (a multiplayer co-op Metroidvania!) is fully cannon and picks up directly from the animated hit show and adds the energy that only WayForward can bring to it. I mean, if you played River City Girls you know how cool a collaboration between WayForward and Arc System Works can be. Rooster Teeth rounds out this triforce, with the staff and voice cast of RWBY providing the game’s cutscenes. So, for me, as you can imagine, this is a huge honor! I can’t say that enough.

What has brought this over the top for me is working with friends on the soundtrack. I’ve brought on Peter Jones (who actually composes for the show), Hunter Bridges, Jordan Chin, Caleb Hyles, and some others I’ll tell you about later onto the team. The result so far? Well, pure fun. And lots of jams. I can’t wait to share these.

Stay tuned for more on RWBY: Arrowfell. Out next year!

My soundtrack for Marble Knights is out now!

marble.jpg

The Marble Knights Original Game Soundtrack is out today! This rolling (literally, you’re marble knights) fantasy game from the amazing game makers at WayForward has been out for a short bit but the soundtrack is just now…rolling out.

This one was a thrill. From the super fantastic chip tune vs. orchestra sound to the chance to work with the famed Studio Trigger (Kill la Kill, Little Witch Academia) I was the happiest marble in the bag for the year or so I worked on this soundtrack.

Oh, and how about that cover art? It’s so good!

You can get it the soundtrack on:
Bandcamp, Apple Music and others

And Stream it on
Spotify, Pandora, and more!

Please enjoy!

Astral Ascent is revealed!

I’m very pleased to share the reveal trailer for Astral Ascent, the latest game from Hibernian Workshop. We’ve been working on this gorgeous hand animated action game for a bit now and it’s nice to finally reveal a bit of what we’ve been up to!

In this trailer you’ll get just a peek at the incredible game play and just a touch of the beautiful cutscenes as well. And, of course, a small sample of my soundtrack. This one rides the line between pretty and action-packed as best as I could. The outcome has been pretty neat so far — I hope it resonates with those that play it.

Here’s a heads up: there will be a Kickstarter and with that a free demo! You can sign up here to be the first to hear about that when it all drops in a few days.

Stay tuned for more!

Here's a first look at Plague Huntress!

I’m pleased to share a first look at gameplay for upcoming pixelart metroidvania Plague Huntress! I’ve been working on this fantastic looking game for Bare Feet Games for a good while now but it’s just now making its gameplay debut.

In keeping with the early 90’s style of disc-based game consoles, I created a soundtrack that exclusively uses a single four megabyte ROM sound chip as the sound source. I hope you’ll agree that it sounds exactly like an early PlayStation game might have back then.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the debut trailer! Stay tuned for more on Plague Huntress.

Sword of the Necromancer is out now; here a sneak peek of my work in it

Screen Shot 2021-01-29 at 2.14.49 PM.png

Sword of the Necromancer is out on all platforms as of now, including the new consoles. Here’s the PC version on Steam.

I’m grateful to have worked on this game! Inés Mirás headed up the score. My part comes in the theme, and for that I worked with Emi Evans, who supplied beautiful vocals to my writing. RPGFan says some nice things about my work in it, calling it haunting and beautiful. You can check out a preview there!

Ray's The Dead Original Game Soundtrack is now available!

a2684616537_10.jpg

I'm very pleased to share that the Ray's The Dead Original Soundtrack is now available! Look at that cover art! I had an total 80s blast writing music for this game. The combined efforts of myself virt, Disasteradio, & others really come together to make a total jam of a soundtrack.

I approached this work like a jam. It's me at my most relaxed: just some outboard synths and a mixer and some beats and just synth jamming. It was super fun to do. And there's some pretty wild stuff from me in here. I hope you enjoy! Get your copy here.

Ray's the Dead launches on PS4 and Steam on October 22

I had the honor of writing…quite the range of music for Ragtag Studios’ upcoming Ray’s the Dead. Usually, when you write music for a game, there’s a certain soundscape or range you set into. But I noticed over time as music requests came in over the course of development that, well, they were quite wide-ranging!

So that’s why I’m very excited to share that Ray’s the Dead will be released on PlayStation 4 and Steam on October 22. I really want to hear how it plays out! I won’t detail the range here because I feel like it’ll spoil the surprise, but know I had a lot of fun! I join famed retro and synth wave artists on the soundtrack so the overall soundscape should be really cool.

For now, enjoy this new announce trailer! Sit tight for soundtrack details!

I wrote music for Tokyo Game Show 2020!

I'm happy to share that I composed music for Tokyo Game Show Online 2020!

TGS is my favorite game industry event so this is a big deal to me. This week you'll hear various stage songs, a super cute '5pm chime' song that all Japanese people will be familiar with, and an epic intro to the official eSports Grand Prix!

I hate missing the show for the first time in a decade and a half but I'm very honored to have a small hand in helping with the presentation this year!

Above you’ll find one of the songs I wrote for the show in its full, unedited form. Enjoy! And if you’re watching along this week, listen in for me!

I composed the soundtrack to WayForward's newest IP, Marble Knights.

I’m pleased to announce today that I composed the soundtrack to WayForward’s newest game, Marble Knights. Available today on Apple Arcade, for Apple TV, iPad, and iPhone, this game will have you…rolling with its puns and wit and swordplay. I had a…ball writing the music for Marble Knights, with my score being a cross of high orchestral fantasy and chiptune. Two real consoles starred in the recording!

I’m so happy to share that this allowed me to achieve a dream as well: working with Studio Trigger. They’re one of my favorite anime makers of all time, best known for titles such as Little Witch Academia, Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, and many others. I LOST IT when I first found out. I was shaking like a leaf a lot of the time. But it was amazing. I can’t wait for you to see what we did.

I started writing the music more than a year ago and it was hard work but some of my favorite pieces I’ve ever written are in this surprisingly huge soundtrack. Every world, event, boss, and situation has its own music — which is how it should be but is an opportunity we rarely get. WayForward was incredibly open and accepting of my ideas. While some of them took a bit of work to figure out it all paid off in the end.

Marble Knights is a very charming, adorable adventure that’s lots of fun solo, but also supports 4-player multiplayer. The voice acting cast is top notch and the script and writing will have you grinning. I hope that my music supports all of the fantastic work that went into it!
